Until recently I had no desire to use cloth diapers. Too messy, too time consuming, too messy, too inconvenient...did I mention too messy? And I never really gave it much thought. But, we're on our fourth kind of disposable diapers and my poor baby just doesn't seem to do well with them. So, I've started looking into cloth. I had absolutely no idea there were so many different kinds! I had this image in my head of plain white bulky things with pins. Well, those are still around, but there are so many more options these days. Today's cloth diapers are not as bulky and some of them are right down adorable. But how well do they contain the mess?? I don't know yet personally. But, I've heard from other Moms that say they work great with no leaks.
I don't know which kind I'm going to go with just yet. I'm thinking I might give inexpensive prefolds a try first just to see if they help our particular problem. I have to admit, there's a bit of sticker shock when you first look at cloth diapers. The initial cost can seem pretty steep. Of course, you have to realize that this is a one time thing and in the long run it really is much cheaper than buying disposable diapers over and over.
I've joined a couple of cloth diapering groups and I'm hoping to get this figured out and get started on our cloth diapering journey soon. I'll let you know how it goes.
